Stephanie Steckel
  • Graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry in Los Angeles, CA with a DDS degree.
  • Completed her General Practice Residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP) and practiced general dentistry at MCP, Brookhaven, PA and Wilmington, DE.
  • Earned her MS in Oral Biology and Certificate of Orthodontics at the Medical College of Georgia. The results of her research findings were published in the Angle Orthodontist.
  • Started her own orthodontic practice in Dover in 1995, and became Board Certified in 2003. She was named one of the "40 Best Dentists" by Delaware Today in 2005
  • Currently serves as President of the Delaware State Society of Orthodontists, and Director of the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists. She served for 3 years as President of the Kent-Sussex Dental Society.
  • Is a member of various national and local professional organizations including the ADA, AAO, and the Omega Dental Study Club.
  • Is an Invisalign™ Certified Provider.
  • Specializes in using the most up-to date treatment options including laser-assisted orthodontics, temporary orthodontic anchors, and low force self-ligating brackets
  • Lectures to the local dental hygiene society, the local dental society, and to the Polytech High School dental assisting students

Personal Information

Practice Philosophy: Dr. Steckel and her conscientious orthodontic team are committed to providing the highest quality orthodontic treatment in a fun, comfortable environment. It is very important that our patients and parents feel confident in the care they are receiving.

What you enjoy about the practice of orthodontics: I strive for... and believe the foundation is a team-centered approach... I enjoy conferring with this team to plan orthodontic treatment and realize (not reach) excellent results for our patients.

Have lived in: Kent County since 1995

Family members: Husband Steve, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and our black lab Heidi.

Non-work activities include: Enjoying fun outings with my staff, traveling, biking, gardening, Apple Computers, and stand-up comedy.

Currently involved in the following community organizations, etc: Dover Downtown Rotary Club (past president), Polytech Craft Advisory, Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce.
